The River Restaurant Launches New Menu

The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester is unveiling its new menu.  The innovative menu has been created by award winning Executive Chef Eyck Zimmer.

Eyck has created a contemporary gourmet menu that draws upon the finest seasonal and local ingredients and includes a Modern British Menu designed to showcase the very best of traditional British cooking.

Starters on the A la Carte menu include the seasonal carpaccio of beetroot, caramelised hazelnuts and goats cheese, potted salmon with crab, cucumber and lemon oil, pressed game terrine with plum and mustard relish and a local speciality, black pudding and potato muffin with peas to name only a few.

The menu offers diners a choice of risotto and gnocchi dishes for their main including sautéed potato gnocchi with butternut squash and sage and watercress risotto with bacon and oyster beignet.   

Fish fans will be in seventh heaven when choosing from salmon with crispy capers, buttered leeks and lemon foam, roast cod with choucroute and wood roasted pepper, poached halibut with red wine syrup and candied hazelnut, baked monkfish with octopus, bean and chorizo casserole.

Meat lovers will be equally as spoilt for choice with pork cutlet with aubergine puree, caramelised apple and marjoram jus, breast of corn fed chicken with creamed leeks and morels, roasted squab pigeon with liquorice scented jus and horseradish mash, roast loin of venison with barley and celeriac, peppered cherry jus, fillet of Cheshire beef with smoked bacon jus and horseradish mash, 16 oz T-bone with crispy onion rings and sauce béarnaise to choose from!

The delicious dessert menu features a variety of classics, an Assiette of River Restaurant desserts and a selection of four British cheeses with plum bread.

Eyck’s Modern British Menu includes cured salmon with buttermilk panna cotta and capers, lobster and sweet corn chowder with smoked bacon, fillet of Lancashire beef with sautéed girolles, artichokes and truffle mash and rice pudding with poached damsons from the Lake District. The Modern British Menu is priced at £42.
