Trio of Awards for The Lowry Hotel
THE LOWRY HOTEL SCOOPS TWO AWARDS AT THE NORTHERN HOSPITALITY AWARDS
AND NATIONAL ACOLADE FROM THE UK TEA COUNCIL
The Lowry Hotel, part of the Rocco Forte Collection has won the ‘Best Hotel’ category in The Northern Hospitality Awards 2008. In addition, The Lowry Hotel’s Executive Head Chef, Eyck Zimmer won the award for ‘Best Chef Mentor’. This award recognises the talent and contribution of a chef who constantly passes on their knowledge and skills with enthusiasm and care to trainee chefs.
At a black-tie ceremony last night, The Lowry Hotel won the title over the City Inn (Manchester), Hilton Deansgate (Manchester), Malmaison (Liverpool) and Radisson Edwardian ()Manchester). The Lowry Hotel was recognised for the consistently high standards offered to its guests.
Jason Harding, general manager at The Lowry Hotel said: “The Northern Hospitality Awards aims to reward the thriving hospitality industry in the North of England and both talented individuals and businesses are recognised. To have the hotel and Eyck Zimmer recognised with their awards only highlights the five star service we offer throughout The Lowry Hotel.”
To add to this duo of awards, The River Bar at The Lowry Hotel has also received an “Award of Excellence” from the UK Tea Council for its afternoon tea.
The UK Tea Council awarded The Lowry Hotel the prestigious accolade, the only venue recognised by the council in the North West, after judges were impressed with the quality of the afternoon tea served at The River Bar, with the highest marks given in every judging category. The Lowry Hotel was awarded along with 55 other tea places throughout the UK for the variety and quality of the teas offered together with excellent service, décor, ambience, presentation and value for money.
Commenting on the quality of the afternoon teas served at The River Bar, Head of the Tea Guild, Irene Gorman said: “Competition for an ‘Award of Excellence’ in the Top Tea Place is intense and rigorous. The Award of Excellence for The River Bar at The Lowry Hotel was presented in recognition of the consistently high standards of tea making, as evident in the care and attentiveness with which they prepare and serve afternoon tea.”
The Lowry Hotel – part of the Rocco Forte Collection – offers the very highest quality accommodation, facilities and services including 165 bedrooms (six riverside suites and the Charles Forte Suite), the glamorous River Room Restaurant and adjacent River Bar, the library, a relaxing spa and fitness centre and dedicated conference and banqueting floor.
